Rock Ledge, Catawba Island, Ohio

Preserved 120 YearsFor Eleven Families.

The Position

Catawba Island’s most remarkableposition above Lake Erie.

Catawba Island’s shoreline is defined by its limestone cliffs, wooded bluffs, and rock ledges. Yet along Sand Road, one stretch has captivated generations. Here, the shoreline opens to uninterrupted views of Lake Erie, where the exposed rock ledge rises above the water. For more than a century, sunsets from this remarkable vantage point have inspired travelers to slow down and take in the view.

It was this extraordinary setting that drew Charles Holt to establish his summer retreat, Rock Ledge, in 1905. More than 120 years later, the same position above Lake Erie defines Rock Ledge today: an intimate enclave of eleven homes, elevated above the water on ground as remarkable now as it was then.

The Homes

Architecture designedspecifically for this ground.

Exceptional architecture begins long before the first line is drawn. At Rock Ledge, every homesite has been individually studied, its contours explored, its views discovered, and its natural character understood. Each home is being designed with purpose, thoughtfully positioned to embrace the qualities that make its particular setting unlike any other.

The result is architecture that feels both effortless and intentional. A window perfectly framing a glimpse of Lake Erie. A quiet room embracing the wooded landscape. A living space that welcomes the evening sun. These are the moments that transform a beautiful house into an extraordinary home. Not by accident, but by design. Created for this ground, and ultimately, for the life you’ll live upon it.

Private Lake Access

Under Creation.Secluded lake access via Tunnel.

Imagine stepping out your front door, following a quiet path beneath Sand Road, and emerging along the shores of Lake Erie. No traffic to cross. No crowds to navigate. Just the freedom to enjoy the water whenever the moment calls. An afternoon swim, a quiet morning with coffee, or a front-row seat to a spectacular Lake Erie sunset. All just steps from home.

At Rock Ledge, a private pedestrian tunnel connects the community to its own secluded waterfront retreat. A place to gather with neighbors, launch a kayak, linger in the afternoon sun, or simply watch the horizon change. Here, lakefront living isn’t reserved for the homes closest to the shore. It’s a privilege shared by all eleven residences.
